Am I Black or Am I Blue? Special Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Profiling
/Fox's hit sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been rewarded for it out of the box approach to the traditional sitcom formula by winning a Golden Globe. Their tradition continues with a special episode that airs tonight in which Terry Crews' character Sergeant Jeffords, has a very personal, racially motivated encounter with a fellow police officer while in his own neighborhood.
I recently sat down with Terry, Brooklyn Nine-Nine Co-creator/Executive Producer Dan Goor and the show writer Phil Augusta Jackson to chat about the inspiration behind this episode, and their insights into why it was important for them to tell this story on the show.
These three men were delightful and the light they shed on tackling such a difficult subject for network television was enlightening, entertaining and most of all relevant to what is happening in today's society.
