SNATCHED

Most mothers and daughters are notorious for having complicated relationships?  Why?  As someone who is on the daughter side of this issue, it's endearing and annoying all at the same time  But, no matter what the praise or criticism is from our mothers, the bottom line is you only get one mother who will love you unconditionally.

Snatched sheds the light on this unconditional love under the most trying of circumstances.  Starring Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer, this mother/daughter buddy comedy takes a dark twist that you never see coming.  Nevertheless, you still howl at these two golden-haired beauties as they embark upon an unexpected vacation adventure that brings them closer than even they would've never anticipated.

Emily Middleton (Amy Schumer) is a dreamer, with ambition who has never been able to get her act together.  When her boyfriend unexpectedly kicks her to the curb, Emily reluctantly begs her Mom to hang on her non-refundable trip to paradise. Just one hitch...her mother has no interest out of concern for her health and safety.  But, in desperation of needing some much-needed mother/daughter time Linda (Goldie Hawn)  ultimately. succumbed to the pressure.

"I think in the beginning, Emily thinks she's doing her Mom a favor by forcing her to got on this trip...I think deep down, she looks at how her mom is living and doesn't want to end up like that.  She thinks if she can make her mom have this awesome life, then that will make her feel better about her future until the realization hits realizes that she's really  a pretty selfish person," says writer Katie Dippold.

Schumer only had Goldie Hawn in mind to play her mom.  "It was destiny...I stopped her in the airport and said, 'I really want to make this movie with you.  This is happening."  When the two met again at a party a couple of years later, Hawn shared,  "I saw Trainwreck, and that's when, to me, a star was born.  I thought , OK, this is someone who can do it all."

The cast is perfectly rounded up with another "buddy team" of Joan Cusack and Wanda Sykes.  What make is hilarious is that Cusack says nothing and Sykes says everything.  Pure comedy at its best!  Chris Meloni as the Amazon explorer Roger is hysterical.  Having seen him do so much drama lately, I forgot he has comedy on lockdown.  Remember him when Julia Roberts and Richard Gere re-teamed in Runaway Bride as Robert's fiance'?

Using Oahu as a double for Ecuador, booking a vacation feels hella appealing.  Trust me when I tell you this film looks and feels like something you may have seen before, but I promise you it is not.

Produced by Schumer and 20th Century Fox, Snatched hit theaters on May 12th.
